When purchasing a used X-ray machine online, such as on eBay, it’s important to be aware of the potential risks involved. The X-ray source and sensor are crucial components that account for a significant portion of the machine’s cost. Replacing these parts can result in substantial expenses. Consider these risks before buying deeply discounted X-ray machines online.
I didn’t really want to have to do this video, but we just had an event with one of our customers. So I thought I should share this with you. When you buy a used x-ray machine on eBay or some sort of website, please be aware that there’s a chance that the machine works for a while and then something is going to happen.
Now there are two critical components in the x-ray machine, the X-ray source and the sensor, and those two components end up being 70-75% of the cost of the machine. So if they fail, it can cost you several thousands of dollars to replace them. So this company went ahead and bought a used machine on eBay.
And a few weeks after using the machine, the X-ray source died and the replacement of that X-ray source ended up being several thousands of dollars almost. If you add the price they paid for the rental plus the price they will have to pay now to repair the source, they were really close to buying a brand new x-ray machine with a three-year warranty.
So it’s one of those things that when you see a piece of equipment, especially an x-ray machine that has these two critical components, it costs a lot of money. When you see them going for a really deep discount online, it is because that risk is priced into the cost that you are paying for the x-ray machine.
So keep that in mind, and if you have any questions, we’re always open. Please give us a call. And as usual, do subscribe here in one of the corners.
