Is Apple Listening? Inside the iPhone 14
We’ve been working in support of iFixit and their product teardowns for years. Their enthusiasm for what they found in the new Apple iPhone 14 suggests that Apple my finally be listening.
Right to repair
Change in architecture
Score!
Most reviewers remarks regarding the iPhone 14 have overwhelmingly been about how unremarkable the new phone is. iFixit are fierce advocates of the Right to Repair movement, and as such their view new iPhone 14 are very different. The phones new architecture makes back glass significantly easier to repair. Battery replacement and front screen repair are also relatively easy with the iPhone 14.

While the new Apple iPhone 14 receives an unusually high reparability score, there is still some disappointment that Apple appears to continue requiring pairing of replacement parts such as the back glass. This complicates the use of aftermarket replacement parts. No spoilers here… you’ll have to watch the teardown to get the final score.
