Meet Azul. He’s a German Shepard and the son of K9 officers retired from the San Diego Police Department. Thus his name “Azul” for blue. He’s smart and strong – a tough combination for a pup who from time to time mistakes an expensive computer cable for a chewing toy.

Azul lives with the Cardoso family – who just happens to have access to a bunch of cool x-ray machines. We do live in a disposable society; but Bill just didn’t want to toss a brand new Valve Index. Luckily our good friends at iFixit have a deal with Valve to not only sell spare parts, but also to share with us some cool repair tutorials. Bill and his kids took a look at the tutorials in the hopes of resurrecting the device, but as you can see from the following x-ray image, the cable was well beyond repair…

Since the fixing path was not an option, they took the iFixit path! A new cable was purchased and the Valve Index is back in business. Here’s the link to a new cable in case your dog decides to chew it…

As for Azul, well, it will be a while before he figures out what’s safe to chew.
